10 Practical Steps You Can Take Toward Jesus This Week
No matter where you are—just exploring faith, newly believing, feeling distant, or walking closely with Jesus—movement toward Him is always possible and always worth it.
Here are 10 ways to take a step this week: This isn’t about doing all 10. It’s about choosing one or two and building them into your routine this week.
Let it be a small, intentional step that keeps your eyes on Jesus.
1. Pray One Honest Prayer
It doesn’t have to be long or eloquent. Just be real. Say something like:
“Jesus, if you’re real, help me see you this week.”
“Jesus, I need you today.”
One simple, honest prayer can be a powerful start.
2. Read Matthew 14:22–33 Every Day
Revisit the passage we walked through on Sunday. Read it slowly. Put yourself in Peter’s shoes. Ask, “What does this say about Jesus? What does this say about me?”
3. Write Down One Fear You're Facing
Storms come in all shapes—fear, shame, uncertainty, regret. Write it down. Name it. Then, right underneath it, write:
“Jesus walks on top of this.”
4. Talk to Someone About What You Heard Sunday
Don’t keep it to yourself. Bring up the message. Text a friend. Ask someone what they thought. Conversations help truths stick and hearts grow.
5. Set a 5-Minute Timer to Be Still With God
No phone. No music. No multitasking. Just sit. Breathe. Let God speak in the silence. Presence over performance.
6. Make the Move You’ve Been Putting Off
Is God calling you to join a group? Get baptized? Forgive someone? Ask for help? Take the step. Don’t wait for the storm to calm first.
7. Carry Your Bible With You All Week
Seriously. Put it in your bag or your car. Keep it visible. It’s a tangible reminder to shift your focus when life gets loud.
8. Ask For Prayer
You don’t need to explain everything. Just say, “Can you pray for me?” You’ll be surprised what God does when you let others in.
9. Choose Worship Over Worry
Feeling anxious? Try this: before the worry spirals, play one worship song and just listen. Let truth wash over the lies.
10. Say "Yes" To Whatever Jesus Is Calling You Toward
It might be something small. Or something scary. But if you sense Him saying, “Come,” don’t overthink it. Just move.
Remember: It’s not about perfection. It’s about movement.
Pick one or two of these steps and commit to them this week.
Let them anchor you. Let them draw you closer.
Because the miracle isn’t that Peter walked on water…it’s that he moved toward Jesus.
Let’s do the same.
