[Updated Every
Wednesday Afternoon]
Update hopes
you all have a Happy 4th of July
weekend! Yes, there will be fireworks, cookouts, and red,
white, and blue stuff all over the place, but don’t forget
about the really important part of this holiday…the furniture
sales! Yep, nothing celebrates freedom and independence like
getting a sofa and loveseat combo for 50% off! Woo-hoo! So
happy shopping, and don’t forget to check out all the latest
happenings at Forefront! |

Forefront
wouldn’t happen without volunteers, and each week we take a
minute to highlight someone who is doing an outstanding job.
This week we’d like to thank
Gordon Christie
for all the time he devotes to our Children’s Ministry. As
part of our Hospitality Team, Gordon works at the Children’s
Hub Table, greeting visitors and answering any questions they
might have. He also helps with check-in at some of the
classrooms any time he’s needed. His positive attitude and
friendly spirit make him a perfect “front man,” and we can
always, always count on him to show up and help out wherever
there is a need. Gordon, thank you for all the time and effort
you put into your work; we really appreciate it!

A Great
Excuse to Pig Out!
Want to support Forefront Missions and have some yummy food at
the same time? On Monday, July 7, come on out to Max & Erma’s
near Pembroke Mall, and a portion of your purchase will
benefit our next Vietnam mission trip. Please stop by the Hub
Table this Sunday and pick up a ticket; it will be good for
any time on July 7. So bring your family, friends, and most of
all your appetite! See ya there!
So You
Think You Can Count?
Would you like to make a big impact at Forefront, yet stay
behind the scenes? We're looking for a few trustworthy,
committed volunteers to be part of the counting team that
processes our offerings. If you've got an attention to detail,
some basic administrative skills and are able to serve one
Sunday a month for about 1-3 hours, this might just be for
you! If you're interested, please
email
Dan
Pollard or call him at 468-1188 to set up an interview.
Are You
Ready for Some Football?
Looking for some football action? No, we’re not talking about
actually playing; that’s too much work! We’re putting together
a Fantasy Football league, and we need 12 players to get
things started. It will be a keeper league with a draft held
in late August at the church office. It is also a pay league,
with winnings given at the end of the season. To sign up or to
get more info, please
email
Charlie
Kitts.
Cantina of
Hope
We’ve recently heard about someone who is stepping out to try
to make a difference in the community, and we want to give you
an opportunity to help! Marty Crawford feeds the homeless
every Satuday at 12:00 across the street from Central Library
on Virginia Beach Boulevard. Marty is very creative in putting
together great food to serve, but he could use some help with
food donations. He’d also love to have some people come out
and join him while he serves. If you’d like to donate any food
(water, bread, beans, chicken, noodles, you name it!) or time
to Marty’s ministry, please give him a call at 426-2355.
Baltimore
or Bust!
Hey
ladies, this one is for you! We've got a team of women heading
to Baltimore, MD from August 1-3 to visit Mosaic, a new church
being planted by Carl Kuhl, a former Forefront staff member.
We're going to partner with Mosaic to assist Samaritan Women,
a ministry that reaches out to hurting women in the Baltimore
area. They've purchased a house that needs to be transformed
into a transition home for needy women, and this is where you
come in! If you can hold a hammer, plant a seed, throw away
trash, etc., you're more than qualified to help! Sign up at
the Hub Table if you're interested. For more info, please
email
Bob Nery.
Lights,
Camera, Action!
Do
you dream of making it big in show business? Well, let's face
it, that probably won't happen! But you could make it big on
the Forefront Production Team! That's just as cool, right??
We're looking for some volunteers who can help with lights,
filming, computers, and other production elements for our
Sunday morning service. We could also use someone who is handy
at editing videos. So if any of that sounds like you, please
contact Jason at 468-1188, or
email
him.
Surf's Up!
If
you have a passion for surfing, here's your chance to pass
your skills on to some young surfer-to-be's! We're looking for
some volunteers to help with a surf camp that will teach
kids about surfing and help them grow in their relationship
with God at the same time. You'll make a difference in a young
person's life, have a great time, and maybe if you're lucky,
they'll give you a cool nickname like "Surf Master!" (Ok,
maybe not that last part.) If you'd like to get involved,
please
email
Bob Nery for more info.
We’re
Partnering with PIN!
Have you been sitting around thinking, “Man, my third Sundays
of the month are so boring! I need something to do!” (Oh, just
play along and say yes!) Well, here’s your chance to get out
and do something life-changing! The third Sunday of every
month is PIN day at Forefront. This will be a chance for
Forefronters to come out from 3-6 p.m. to help the
People In Need Ministry
serve dinner to the needy and homeless of Virginia Beach. The
schedule will include helping with set-up, serving food,
hanging out for a worship service, then cleaning up. This is
an awesome opportunity to show God’s love in a practical way!
Our next PIN day is July 20. Stop by the Hub Table to sign up.
Show the
Blog Some Love
Have you checked out the Forefront Blog yet? Vince has
launched a new blog just for the people of Forefront. This
will give him the chance to let us into his life a little, and
to share what's going on at Forefront and the vision behind
what we're doing. It’s updated daily, so you can get a little
taste of Forefront fresh every morning! So go check it out at
www.forefrontblog.org.
It’s blogtastic! Bloggerriffic! Chock full of bloggy goodness!
Ok, that’s enough. Seriously, stop what you’re doing right now
and go check it out! What are you waiting for? Go!
